Allen Lee Davis
Allen Lee Davis was convicted and executed for the
May 11, 1982
Jacksonville, Florida murder of Nancy Weiler, who was three-months pregnant at the time, and her two daughters (ages five and nine). Davis was on
parole for armed robbery at the time of the murders.
Nancy Weiler, the wife of a
Westinghouse executive, was "beaten almost beyond recognition" by Davis with a .357, and hit over 25 times in the face and head. During the incident, Davis tied up Weiler's 9-year-old daughter Kristina and shot her twice in the face. He shot Weiler's 5-year-old daughter Katherine as she was trying to run away. Davis then beat Katherine's skull in with his gun.
Davis' execution drew additional media attention after he had a nose bleed in the electric chair. A
Florida Supreme Court justice published, as part of his dissent in another case, Department of Corrections photos of Davis immediately following the execution with a shirt covered in blood. His weight of 350 pounds may have contributed to the execution problems.
